Welcome to
the Folk Marathon 2000! I have always seen my work with acoustic music
to be centered around expanding the concept of what people have come to
think of as "folk" music. I feel the folk marathon achieves this, in
that it presents such a wide spectrum of music -- from roots to Celtic,
Latin American to Native American, Bluegrass to singer/songwriter,
Americana to World...it's all there. I hope you enjoy listening to the
music as much as we at WTJU enjoy presenting it to you.
I would
like to thank the WTJU staff for all their help in making this marathon
happen. There are some individuals in particular who I feel deserve
special recognition for their work. Thanks very much to: Chuck Taylor,
Jane McDonald, Brennan Gilmore, Gayle Poirier, Pete Marshall, Sandy
Adams, Eli Frantzen, Valerie L'Herrou, Phyllis White, Debbie Hunter,
Matt Pinto, Fred Boyce and the Prism Coffeehouse, and special guest
announcers Terri Allard, Mike Seeger, Joe Ayers, Cindy Benton Groner and
Terry Carpenter.
